Great news for parent education in Canada

I am delighted to announce a new initiative in conjunction with the Business Family Foundation (BFF). Philippe and Nan-b de Gaspe Beaubien of Montreal, are the founders of BFF which is a driving force behind business family education and outreach in Canada, and around the world.

Parenting Network has been selected to provide courses to business families in the communities served by the BFF cernters. The orgniizatin has six centres affiliated with graduate business schools on university campuses across Canada. We will pilot our very popular Introductory Parenting Course, with modifications, to reflect the additional needs of the business family population. The first pilot will be co-sponsored by the Richard Ivey School of Business in London this spring. Based on a successful outcome, we would hope to be offering both parenting courses and facilitator training across the country within the year.

This exciting initiative will give me the opportunity to broaden my reach and help families from coast to coast. A dream come true. The only regret is that it will limit the time I will be available to each of you, the parents and families I have worked so closely with over the past 16 years. Your appreciation and warmth for my work has always made me feel like I have the best job in the world!

NOTED CANADIAN PARENTING EXPERT INTRODUCES EDUCATIONAL CD SERIES

Beverley Cathcart-Ross brings wisdom of successful parenting into the home, car or portable CD player.

TORONTO, Ontario - February 28, 2005 - Beverley Cathcart-Ross, nationally acclaimed parent educator, counsellor and co-founder of the Parenting Network today introduces a unique collection of audio CDs designed to enhance the child-parent relationship. 'Essential Parenting Skills: Preparing Your Child For Life' offers invaluable insights that help caregivers select the most effective parenting style and develop the encouragement skills needed for their children to be confident and successful in life.

These CDs, together with resources on the Parenting Network website, give parents important lessons about how their parenting style affects their children's behaviour and development. The goal of Essential Parenting Skills is to provide parents with the necessary tools to foster harmonious family relationships.

Through a combination of role-playing scenarios and practical advice, the CDs help parents successfully deal with parent-child struggles. "I find moms and dads everywhere so desperately want their children to be happy and successful, but many get so discouraged and confused because nothing seems to work with their children," says Ms. Cathcart-Ross.
